Federation History Project Update: July 2005

Begun in the summer of 1992 with an oral history workshop in Baden, Pa., the Federation of the Sisters of St. Joseph has been involved with a collaborative history project utilizing the expertise of Sisters Barbara Baer (Wichita) and Patricia Byrne (Baden), director. The project has two major components, which continue to unfold:

A. Oral History Component:
As of spring 2005, all oral histories have been transcribed, with each transcription printed on acid-free paper and placed in an acid-free folder together with a diskette of the transcript. Each province /vice-province archivist has received copies of these transcriptions.

B. Research Component:
With the exception of the Wichita congregation, Sister Barbara Baer has completed the archival research of all the congregations. She and Sister Patricia continue to discuss how the material will be processed and made available for research.
