Gulu Uganda Project

It was a happy day in Gulu when Sisters Marion, JoAnn and Pat moved into their new home.

Blessing visitors:

Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, at the request of the Church, went to Gulu, Uganda, in June 2008 to assist the Acholi people as they recover from 25 years of civil war. Ugandan children were forced into military service, family members were killed and missing and farmlands were lost in the war. Many now live with AIDS, malaria and chronic malnutrition. Through education, health care and catechetical formation, the Sisters assist in efforts to rebuild family and village life and culture. Read about their experiences at http://csjgulu.blogspot.com

JG Group:
Family and friends greet S. Jo Ann Geary upon her arrival in St. Louis on June 16, 2011. Left to right: Susan Kohl, Judy Buchanan, S. Francine Costello, Jonathan Holstein, S. Jo Ann, S. Susan Hames, and S. Maryellen Tierney.

Family, friends and we, CSJs, welcomed JoAnn Geary home from Gulu on June 16 at the St. Louis airport. Jo will be in the St. Louis area visiting family and friends from now until August 15th, when she returns to Gulu. She will be participating in the 175th celebration and will be connecting with many and, in particular, those of us who are supporting the building of a maternity ward adjacent to the St. Mauritz Health Clinic where Jo continues to work. Jo has stories to share about women, children and men who attend the clinic. The urgent need is the construction of a maternity ward of the clinic. Your contributions to the Maternity Ward Project are greatly appreciated. Please send through the CSJ Mission Office/Fund, 2311 S. Lindbergh, St. Louis, MO 63131-3505.
While Jo is here Pat Murphy and Marion continue their ministries in Gulu. See csjgulu.blogspot.com for recent activities in Gulu.
We keep them all in our hearts and prayers.
